It was lamentations last week at various refugee camps in Ogoja and its environs in Cross River State.
Our correspondent gathered that the United Nations Refugee in Nigeria set the ball rolling where refugees in Ogoja, Ikom, Obubra, met to speak out their minds on the ways and manners they are being treated by the Nigerian government.
Talum Sunday, supritendent of police and area police commander for Ogoja divisional police headquaters in Cross River State was instructed by the UN office in Nigeria to listen and jaw-jaw with the refugees. Insider sources said that most of the refugees that spoke complained that the federal government has neglected them.
But the UN officials noted that the government neglect may be due to the distress economic situations in our country.
However it was further gathered that the neglect has forced some of the refugees to take to robbery, prostitutions, cultism, and violence in other to make ends meet. It was alleged during the UN-police Refugees meeting with the management of the National Identity Management Commission, NIMC have refused further NIN registrations for the refugees. While has some security agents detailed to the refugees camps were alleged to be involved in sexual harassments and extortions
This is even as it was further alleged that some of the unidentified security agents are also conniving with some Cameroonians to inflict further injuries, hunger, anger and frustration on Nigerians.
